wmw999 2,589 #2 August 19, 2010 That's awesome -- score one for the Navy Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

billvon 3,120 #4 August 19, 2010 Reminds me of the Air Florida flight 90 crash rescue. A Parks Department helicopter picked a few people out of the water. The last few people were too weak to hang on to ropes or rescue rings so the pilot dropped under the bridge (with what looked like about 10 feet of clearance for the rotor) got the skid under the ice (and beneath them) and then dragged out. Niki1 2 #6 August 19, 2010 I'm thinking that the pilot and probably the whole crew always wanted to do some thing like that when in really counted. They got the chance and pulled it off and made it look easy. Ooops. Sorry the Navy doesn't have pilots. They are Aviators. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. Louis D Brandeis Where are we going and why are we in this basket? Beerlight 0 #8 August 19, 2010 Excellent footage and rescue. Kudos to our Navy fliers and rescue crew!! Does this version of the Blackhawk have autopilot with autohover capability? Anyone? I know our Coasties flying out of Ellington here in Houston in their HH-65's do.
