CarrieByTheSea 0 #5 September 1, 2010 Heelarious. I cannot share that with anyone with my company, however. My company FINALLY got on the conference-call bandwagon which saves me a nine-hour round trip every other month. I cannot hear well. I cannot contribute, nor hear any audience contributions at all. And guest speakers never seem to understand how to speak into the proper microphone. Nevertheless, I will never complain. Ever. NEVER. Ever. Ever. Hail the conference call that saves me the wasted drive for the ridiculous meetings that last no longer than 30 minutes and are typed up and sent off in a memo to us later anyway. What I hate is the newcomer who beeps in before the meeting starts and wants to talk to everyone. Can't she hear I am busy typing and do not care about how her vacation is going?"Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
happythoughts 0 #6 September 2, 2010 I just finished a contract at a bank. Every Monday at 10:00, until 11:30, 20 people in a conf room with another 20 on the phone. The fun part was that everyone in the room would bust on the people dialing in, but they couldn't hear it. As a contractor, it is like free money. Sit in a room for 90 minutes, but only talk for 3. It is like a paid break time. My fav was the 7am-every-day call for 5 minutes, but bill for an hour. Even weekends. I dialed in, listened, but did not talk unless necessary. Then, hang up. My ex-g/f - "wtf was that about?" (Like I just call up people at 7am, don't talk, and hang up )
