skydiver30960 0 #1 September 3, 2010 I have a buddy over in Afghanistan, and I was going to send him a care package. A LOT of the things that are listed in an email from him about stuff the guys and gals over there with him are jonesing for are food products like peanut butter and jelly, crackers, dip, and whatnot. No problem, but... The customs form I need to fill out says I have to declare if the package contains food products, plants, etc. and that it would be subject to quarantine. Hell, the little box I have to check on the form SAYS "quarantine." What's the deal? Will that hold up the package for a long time? How do you all handle it? Lying seems like a bad idea. shah269 0 #3 September 3, 2010 Yes please do! The only thing that may not make it is candy since it may melt. But anything else they miss from home that comes in a jar or in a package you can send. Also magazines and DVD's are greatly appreciated.Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. Just put on there 'Snacks' or 'Crackers' or 'Chips' They're more worried about the things that aren't already packaged. They rarely ever even look in the box, I know there are plenty of things prohibited, but I've seen about half of them make it here without being checked. The big ones are no alcohol or porn mags... however, DVDs or Movies... well They're not too bad about it for the most part, they got alot of mail to process. Now, Qatar... those guys will straight up arrest you for porn when you go through customs... Shell666 0 #8 September 4, 2010 When a friend of mine was over in Afghanistan I took my care package over to the base here and they send it over for me. You might want to check into that. 'Shell

amstalder 0 #10 September 4, 2010 Theonlyski got it right with the just listing "Crackers, snacks, etc." For the most part, youll only be sending prepackaged, nonperishable foods which isnt a big deal. Also, the flat rate boxes (which are free at the post office) are the best way to send things over, unless youre sending big stuff. Youd be surprised how much stuff you can fit in there. LaRusic 0 #11 September 5, 2010 Im in afghanistan right now and pretty well everything but chocolate, and similar items dont make it. Candy makes it and is nice and gooey when it gets here haha. Also, if you really like that friend, booze fits nicely inside a pringles can with a few chips left on top or in things like boxes of granola.....not that we got anything in the mail like that here The Altitude above you, the runway behind you, and the fuel not in the plane are totally worthless Dudeist Skydiver #
