I used to like the sign at my DZ:

"Smokers: when the floor is full, please use the litter bins provided."

Honestly, cigarette butts don't bother me as much as most litter. But I do object when someone smoking near me just throws his or her butt down and walks off without even bothering to extinguish it. It's like, you're not even smoking it now, and still I have to put up with it?
