BIGUN 1,486 #2 September 11, 2010 Have you tried, http://fortjacksonmwr.com/lodging/ And, if you PM Matthew Cline, he can prolly help or at least knows the NCOIC of the parachute team at Campbell for recommendations on jumping.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. Sapphire 0 #5 September 11, 2010 Congrats to her! There's a DZ in Chester, SC I believe - which isn't very far from where you'll be."One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller

Also, there are many good hotels nearby. Columbia is a wonderful place, if you look towards blythewood you'll find some cheaper places than in city. billeisele 130 #10 September 14, 2010 my town, my customer - info machine here Skydive Carolina, 1 hour north of Ft Jax, straight up I-77, all info is on their site www.skydivecarolina.com 803-581-5867, call to check what is happening, sometimes Thursdays can be slow, Otter, rental gear if you don't have travel plans yet check on flying in to Charlotte, 1 hour 20 minutes straight south from airport to the Fort graduation day causes a jam at the gate, get there early hotels also fill up quick, check those near I-77 around Farrow Rd, Blythewood Rd and Garners Ferry Rd PM me if you need more info congratsGive one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.

amstalder 0 #12 September 15, 2010 Raeford is awesome if you have time for it. Its about 2 hours (maybe two and a half... Im terrible at keeping track of time) north. Congrats again
matthewcline 0 #13 September 15, 2010 What is she getting classed in for AIT? Every one has given you some great suggestions and I think you have a god plan. The RV does allow you to skip the hotel over booking thing. Are you towing a car to drive on post? If so get in the day before and get your pass the day before as well so you don't have that slow up on Graduation Day. I think You will like Chester (well any of the DZ's mentioned). If you go to her Graduation from ABN School make sure you ride out to SDA and make a jump there, you'll see a handful of her Instructors there too. MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I remember 1st day of jump school and the Ft. Benning team was jumping into the Tower field for practice. Of course we all looked up to watch. Then ended up beating or boots for about 45 minutes while the Marines in the class had to sing From the Halls of Monetzuma. My favorite experience had to do with me going to Tattoo Tommy's and getting my airborne tat about 3 days before graduation. One of my black hats walked in while I was getting it. He smile and laughed under his breathe. Next day was saturday (or graduation was pushed back do to a fatality). Lets just say I was really tired by noon and sore all over the next day.Dom
