quade 4 #2 June 5, 2010 A photograph of all the people he currently works with. Make it a good tight one where you can actually see the smiling FACES of his friends and not just dots standing in front of some building. A good sized one maybe 11x17, framed, autographed on the matt by as many people in the photo as possible. It's one of the only gifts that down the road he'll still give a shit about.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

(tandem's out by the way) Thanks, Ed A good friend of mine is now the fire chief back at my home town. I found one of those old copper fire extinguishers...the kind you had to turn upside-down to activate. I had it polished to a mirror finish and had a brass plaque added to commemorate the promotion. He has it mounted on the wall of his home office and from what I can tell...really appreciates it. Total cost was about 100.00 ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
skycop 0 #4 June 5, 2010 A grocery store gift card, along with a retirement greeting card, inside the card write the following phrase: "Eat 'till you're sleepy, sleep 'till you're hungry" If he has a sense of humor he may like that. Tell him you got it from a cop, they love that.... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Anvilbrother 0 #8 June 6, 2010 Depends on if he was in love with the Fire Service when he retired. At times I personally being in the service HATED things that remind me of work. At times I am in love with it, just gotta see how he felt when he left. There are firefighters that leave with a finger in the air, not at the public, but at the system and the politics mostly. If he left on good terms the brass extinguisher, nozzle, old helmet idea is great, if not get something else, don't grind him with a memory of work if he left on bad terms Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone. dropdeded 0 #9 September 21, 2010 Well, I ended up giving him a signed (By Trower) set list from a Robin Trower concert I went to with him awhile back (big fan) It seemed more personal... and I left it in the crappy little beat up dime store frame I had it in ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
