Well ........I may as well enjoy it while I can. I don't look for too much out of them this year. Mike Pouncey is no Maurkice and Chris Rainey got himself arrested for stalking. (both former Lakeland Dreadnaughts). (both former Lakeland Dreadnaughts). This year, no. Next year, they should be okay and back up in the mix of things. They won the recruiting championship this past year, and another strong one this coming February, expectations will be higher. Then again, expectations can be a bitch. Before the season started, somebody was bragging how the Gators were gonna come into Tuscaloosa and feast on the Tide's young secondary. I was worried about that too, until watching the Gators slog through Miami of Ohio and South Florida. You never know though. A few years back, Georgia had an inauspicious start to their season, losing to South Carolina and Tennessee, but came on really strong at the end that everybody called them the best team in the SEC, and possibly the nation, even though they didn't even get to play in the SEC title game. LSU finished #1 and Georgia #2. This Saturday is going to be interesting. Alabama is going to be tested big time at Arkansas. I think the Hogs will pull out all the stops for this game. Hopefully, the Tide's offense will start off the game right and get a couple scores ahead early and just clamp down on defense. I like what Mark Ingram said the other day "I want us to dominate. I want us to make the other team as they walk off the field after the game, to never want to play us again". Going into each game with that mindset, to really want to outdo the other team, and not play down to their level (like in years past), is going to make them (Bama) extremely difficult to beat this year, but not impossible. This upcoming 3 game stretch will tell us a lot of how good Alabama is/can be. All three opponents - Arkansas #10, Florida #9 and South Carolina #12 could face Alabama as top 10 teams in back-to-back-to-back games. That has never happened before. Bama will play on the road at Ark and SC. The good news for us is that Alabama is fully healthy, no players are going to miss this weekend's game injury-wise, and we've got Ingram and Dareus back. Funny how things work out. A year ago, I really felt like Alabama was a year away from vying for the national championship, when Greg McElroy would be a senior. Then we won it all last year instead. THEN, entering this season, I doubted we could repeat, having lost 6 of our best 7 defensive backs to the NFL/graduation/suspension/etc. The jury's still out on our prospects, but so far, so good. Get that young DB talent up to game speed/knowing their jobs/etc and they could be outstanding again. And if not, well the offense is good enough to carry the team this time around. Of course, we all thought that of Oklahoma a couple years ago and look how that turned out. Florida cut them down."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
