npgraphicdesign 3 #1 October 18, 2010 A question for everyone... Good or bad idea, especially in these times? Let's say you have about 15K in the bank, and thinking of NYC, Chicago, Boston...maybe Austin. Is relocating without a job and hoping to find one eventually a smart idea? Especially if you're feeling stuck in the current situation and really need to break out... Any thoughts?

Eh....Austin is actually my last choice...for some reason, I'm really drawn to NYC, and I'm only 2 hrs away from it. Austin would be a much bigger move... And it's much easier to swing down to NYC for an interview than go to Austin... What fields are the strongest/weakest in NYC?

Ok, seriously, wherever you go, go and don't look back. You may actually find a teaching position due to more and more people leaving that field because of severe pay cuts. wmw999 2,589 #25 October 18, 2010 Winter is coming; NYC will be hard if you don't find something decent reasonably soon, and it's expensive. If you really, really can't stand the thought of where you're living now, find out where the teaching jobs are, and consider moving there. Austin teacher jobs That's probably your best way to a quick job, to start teaching (depending on what you teach). Whichever city has the most job openings in something you can be certified to teach is the best choice at first. Just remember that if you are teaching, those are someone's beloved children you're teaching, and do a good job. Once you have a job, it's easier to find another one. Remember the thread a few months ago about companies that won't even interview people who aren't currently working?
