darrenspooner 0 #1 April 2, 2005 This is a question I'm waiting to hear from PD about, but wondered what people think. I had my first reserve ride on my PDR143 last week. My rigger was packing it and noticed that the line trim was out. Something he hadn't seen before. The A lines measure A1 = 11.5, A2 = 12, A3 = 12.5, A4 = 13. These are symmetrically the same on both sides. The B lines have a similar pattern but not anywhere near as bad, and the C lines have a very slight variability. The canopy is 9 months old and had one ride. Is this okay to repack?
nicknitro71 0 #2 April 2, 2005 This is the trim for PD reserve: http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/PR_106-143LT.pdf They show all the lines in the same group to be the same length. Give PD a call or even better have your rigger call them up. PD might have changed the trim. By making the lines progressively longer from A1 to A4 the canopy is not as bowed. This technique is generally used to increase the overall performance of the canopy. More moder designs have a flatter profile than older ones. slotperfect 7 #3 April 2, 2005 If your Rigger has a concern with the reserve line trim, he should not pack it until his questions are answered by PD. Any component whose serviceability is in question should be brought to the attention of the manufacturer or a more qualified/knowledgeable rigging professional. Many issues can be resolved quickly through emailing digital photos of the affected component. If the issue can't be resolved over the phone or via email, the component should be shipped to the manufacturer for inspection.Arrive Safely John
darrenspooner 0 #4 April 2, 2005 Yeah, my rigger is not willing to pack this without confirmation from PD. He hadn't noticed it the last time he packed it, so we're just a little concerned that this is the result of flying it once. Just waiting to hear from PD about this. darrenspooner 0 #5 April 4, 2005 Just in case anyone is interested, PD said I can get this reserve repacked. By the way, the line lengths were 111 1/2 and so on, not 11 1/2.
nicknitro71 0 #6 April 4, 2005 Did they say if they have changed the trim of their Rs?Memento Audere Semper
darrenspooner 0 #7 April 5, 2005 No, no trim change that they mentioned. Rusty just said that the variability was within limits and its okay to use it.
