BillyVance 35 #26 November 3, 2010 Quote and get extra ram and stick it in there if you can. That's what I was thinking.... like one of those tiny USB memory sticks. I have one that holds 4GB. I keep all my class-work on it currently, but when I'm done with school, I plan on using it to boost my PC's power/memory/speed/whatever...."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

USB storage is very different from RAM. The only way to increase RAM is to add RAM. The only thing a 4GB USB stick is good for is storing 4GB of documents. It doesn't affect system performance.www.WingsuitPhotos.com

So it can be used to boost RAM."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
The111 1 #30 November 4, 2010 Yeah, I'd forgotten about ReadyBoost. Not as good as real RAM, but better than nothing I guess. Still, for the OP, the 4GB RAM in his lappy should be way more than enough for web browsing.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
theonlyski 8 #31 November 5, 2010 Quoteit looks like it has 2 hard drives. one is labelled OS(C:) and has 49GB of 74.5 GB free and the other is labelled DATA(D:) and has 208 GB of 208 GB free. it seems odd to me that there would two hard drives in a laptop. is it possible that there is one hard drive that is partitioned to look like two hard drives? Yes, and very easy to do. I do it on all of my computers that only have one hard drive. I have a 500 gb hard drive in this laptop (Dell), 90gb is for my operating system partition, the rest is for my data partition... I also do it whenever someone brings me thier computer to fix. The reason this is so great, I have my documents directed to that partition, so when it comes time to wipe the operating system and re-install it from scratch, I change a couple settings once its installed, and bam! All of my pictures, music (even itunes library), movies, programs... all of it, right where I left it, but with a fresh installed operating system."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
