Silly californians and your imports!

Umm...I'm not a Californian, I live in Nevada.:|

And I wouldn't trade my Toyota for anything else.
And for the record: the appropriate ranking of cool modes of transportation is jet pack, hover board, transporter, Batmobile, and THEN giant ant.

I want you to do something for me: Start shoveling.

I will be driving to Reno for the Symposium in Feb & I want the roads clear.

I will sacrifice a goat and ask the weather gods to grant you clear sailing to Reno for PIA...,but I can't guaruntee it as it is the Sierras and we still have snow in June sometimes:PI'll probably be living in Tucson in February! Here I come, Skydive Arizona! This will be my last winter having to deal with snow:$

...

The absolute worst vehicle for winter driving though are small rwd pick-ups, like a ford ranger or a chevy S-10. No weight on the rear at all.

...........................................................................

That is why so many Canadians drive around with sand bags or salt bags or large lumps of scrap iron in the backs of their pickup trucks.

I agree ... also there is nothing wrong with a RWD vehicle if that RWD vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission. Where the RWD fails on the snowy icy stuff is when it is coupled with an automatic transmission. Of course driving a manual transmission vehicle requires two functioning arms, two functioning legs and a functioning brain between your ears. I will never understand why people want their wheels to be automatically still be driving while the vehicle is in gear (usually all of the time) when one is trying to navigate the snowing and icy stuff.

RWD really really depends on the vehicle in question. Like an older impala, up to 1996 were rwd, awesome in snow. Dodge chargers, rwd, awesome in snow. However, a corvette, even with a manual tranny is going to be impossible on snow.
