Wings - Sizing and how to measure

Recommended Posts

Is there somewhere that has the descriptions of the various Wings container sizes? I've been all over their website and can't seem to find this information anywhere.

I was also recently told that they have a thing on their site that tells you exactly how do to the measurements for a new rig. I'm assuming that this is something more than the little diagram on their ordering form. Again, I can't seem to find this anywhere.

Any help on where either of this information is located would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I had the same problem, so I called and asked. Don't use another manufacturers measuring guide though; there's something very different about how Wings does it, although I don't remember what. Just give Ankie a call.

yep...they made me a rig sized for a Xfire 149 and my jumbo reserve dash m 218...good fun..It is so tight that a 135 fits snug in the main tray. I just like the security of a larger rig....oh.. the rig numbers are all based off the reserve container. and then any variation of the original main size is then a -1 or some other number. like mine is a W21-1...

My guess is because you can get a Wings to fit ANY canopy combo.

True.

They will even make you something silly like a 200 reserve and a 95 main...

Not that silly.
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

The wings container measurement that is most different is the location of the hip rings. They are higher than most other manaufacturers and designed to flex at the waist to avoid flexing the harness below the handles like some others do,

No problem, just PM me and I'll go through it all with you.

The most critical measurement is the torso one, labelled C on the form. I'll talk you through that one.

And to answer others, you'd be surprised what we've built Wings to fit. The largest disparity that I've seen so far was a PD126 reserve sitting on top of a 252 accuracy cloud. Still looked pretty good though !

Do you have picture?

Nope, but they might have a picture down at the factory if you asked them. They tend to keep a record of odd combintaions there.

That's awesome Gareth. Your truly moving into the future these day by moving from your Paradactyal to the 252 Accuracy Cloud!
Be cafeful landing if you have to ever use that PD126 though! :P:D

mine is a w27. It has a smart 250 reserve and a spectre 230 main.

I also have a W27. I have a Super Raven IV (282) and a Safire2 229 main. Again, don't guess and don't worry about the size of the container. When you fill out the order form and state what Main and Reserve combination you have to go into the container they will make the container to fit those canopies. Blues

Hi!

You can place any main, with any reserve and we'll make you a great looking container to fit them! B|

As far as the measuring the only measurement that is somewhat different from other Harness/Container systems is that the "C" measurement (from top of of sternum/base of neck to top of hip). You need to measure with a slight bend or droop in your measuring tape, so it's not a straight line from the nape of your neck to top of hip bone, but rather a curved line. PM me if you have any other questions or need more detailed instructions on how to measure, or if you'd like to place an order for one.

Cheers,
