ffp1974 0 #1 March 20, 2005 I know this is probably discussed somewhere in previous post. But how many jumps can you put on a op parachute. If buying a used parachute, how do you determine the depreciation, using number of jumps
AggieDave 6 #2 March 20, 2005 Do you mean a ZP canopy? A good many people state 2000 jumps on a ZP canopy, with new linesets as needed. That is also dependent on where the canopy has been jumped and how it has been treated. When buying used gear always have a rigger inspect it and need be have the manufacture inspect it for its airworthiness. Its not worth gambling to save a few bucks.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
ffp1974 0 #3 March 20, 2005 yep zp. I have my own rig and stuff, just looking for a new canopy.
darkwing 5 #4 March 20, 2005 it depends on the conditions the canopy has been exposed to. Dusty, sandy, desert, ocean shore, are bad, green, grassy, is good. Too much sun is bad. Generally speaking a couple of thousand shouldn't be a problem, with occasional new lines. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
cheneyneel 0 #5 March 20, 2005 My dealer says to get a ball park number for a used canopy you take off something like 1.50$ for every jump the canopy has... but then once there is so manyjumps on a canopy then it is just how much is the particular canopy worth to you...
