The woman gets mad that the woman will not change.
The man gets mad when the woman does.
I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

"Things are going to change now, boy. You're married to ME!"

"A man marries a woman, hoping she won't change;
A woman marries a man, hoping she can change him."

We're all control freaks at different points... it's what we're taught; to control our actions, control our bowels, control ourselves at home, then in different environments... like different skydives.

Look at your partner and ask yourself, can I jump with this person, ride with this person? Do I have to adjust to them always or can we adjust to each other?

Every moment to me is like a skydive and sometimes, I have to adjust to others and sometimes they adjust to me.

In a relationship, “practice makes perfect.” Doing things together make ‘partners in life’ closer and better at living life together among others, but I think, “don't lose yourself adjusting to another, always”...

Absence makes the heart grow fonder... time apart can be good. We only live once, maybe twice; this ain't no practice round.

Hi shah,

And any judge versed in contract law....which is 99.9999999% of them will have to enforce what is written and signed to in this contract unless acts called out are contrary to civil law.

I am not an attorney but my son is. A judge has substantial authority in ALL matters brought before him. If he ( the judge ) decides that this 'contract' is too one-sided he can merely throw it out. He can say something as simple as, "I will not allow that document to be part of these proceedings." End of discussion.

Of course, one could always appeal & hope for the best. :)

Judges can and do say that laws are unconsitutional, that they are vague, etc, etc; and the list goes on and on.

Hi shah ( again),

Oh, let me add one more thing.

When I got divorced my wife was awarded permanent Spousal Support ( which most people call alimony ). It is right there in the decree, in black & white for the world to read.

10 yrs later I took her back into to court to get it reduced or eliminated. The judge said "Mrs. Baumchen, permament does not mean forever." He eliminated it completely.

Oh, was she ever mad. And I was dumb-founded; happy, but dumb-founded.

No but it would be cool! :)Look when I crashed on my bike, I stood back and thought about what happened and was able to stand back and take a logical view of how I screwed up.
When I broke my leg on AFP-8 same thing.
I I now make sure I do things to prevent me from getting hurt again.

Looking back at my divorce....I have no idea what the hell went wrong. And I'm not the only dude to say that. So there is no way for me to logicaly examin what went wrong.

Think of this document as your reserve. If she screams herslef into some sick line twist and really wants to take you down this is the only way to get rid of her without ending up dead.

And in the end, this document is designed to protect only one person. The Dude. And since nuptuals are a contract this is an extension of said contract. And if properly written it will protect the Dudes ass and his assets.

Now you can be all nice and zen and think life is good....in that case why not take half your pay and give it to her, take another $15k give it to some guy you don't really trust or like and oh yeah give her the house as well. If you can live like that....you don't need one of these documents.

I think pregnancy is that real checkpoint for when the super pretty long hair gets defaulted to shock value scary, mannish, low maintenance hair cut.

Nah I live near NYC and line in NJ and well it's amazing how many good looking young girls seem to go for the cut!
Graudate from university and CHOP!
Ifact I was on a date no more than a few weeks ago where the girl on the dating sight had photos of her with long hair....but when she showed up....it was GONE! :o
And me being me, I said "Why did you do that?" She game me some dumb answer.....she was a one date wonder...but she wants to go out again. Maybe she can get extensions. [:/]

I'm not an attorney either but have far too much experience in courts.

Your point is exactly why I say I think we are talking about two different types of documents here. A pre-nup, properly written, will protect your assets in case of divorce. A few of these (again, not an expert, but some experience) may have some behavioral clauses. An example would be, spouse commits adultery and their settlement is lowered.

A pre-nup that includes things like how often you have sex, who takes the trash out, who pays the bills, etc. is going to be thrown out of court. That doesn't mean such a document can't be useful for discussion and agreement. It is just not a legal contract that I can see a judge enforcing.
"What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

I picked up on the red flags and that's just from hearing it. Albeit that's only one side.

Like I said brother, one day I'm making dinner and being called "the best husband a girl can have" and talking about planning a trip to New Orleans for a quick vacation and the next......i get a text.

I have gathered a bit of info as to what happened behind my back but that's for the real bonfire.

That's what happens when you insist on riding those high-maintenance imports, instead of settling for a domestic model.:P

Shah... [:/]

Not every woman is a leech looking to steal what ever you might have in the bank (whether it's "Fort Knox" or "piggy"). It would be nice if you could at least acknowledge that somewhere... somehow... a female might... in some version of reality... possibly have money of her own; a career of her own; a brain of her own. AND in some situations, a pre-nup would protect her from just being courted for her *cough* assets.

and... about that BMW comment - I will agree that there is a place for the pomp and pretentiousness of a high maintenance flash. But there's nothing wrong with having fun on a 4 wheeler in the hills, a lovely ride on a Harley, rolling out in a Deuce and a half (M35) or a sporty (but cheap) Hyundai Tiburon. I might not own the Beemer, but guess what... B|B| I'm ok with that.

So...I was thinking...if I were to try the long term relationship thing again...what do I want? Should I put it in writing?

As a lawyer, I wouldn't get married without a prenup, but not for the reasons people would think... mainly to protect the person I care about from what I could do to them if I got really, really pissed! :P

edited to add: though I've never been married, I have learned that I will NEVER AGAIN let a MAN talk me into cutting my hair!!!! :S
