SKYDIVE 0 #1 March 9, 2005 I currently jump a Hurricane 170 main and weigh 242 lbs out the door.I'm looking for something a bit more docile (I have 210 jumps)and with better openings.Maybe a ZP EXE or Pilot ?(I live in South Africa). What about a Sabre2 ? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks Francois
diablopilot 2 #2 March 9, 2005 I'd say the Pilot would be right up your alley, in probably a 190 or even a 210. That 170 is way too hot for your jump numbers.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. divnswoop 0 #3 March 9, 2005 That's a pretty highly loaded canopy for as many jumps as you have. You might want to go up a size for a couple hundred jumps!
Salsa_John 0 #4 March 9, 2005 I like my Spectre but I suggest you ask your S&TA or instructor regarding wingloading "You did what?!?!" MUFF #3722, TDSM #72, Orfun #26, Nachos Rodriguez
Peej 0 #5 March 10, 2005 Hey Francois, The Hurricane is a fully eliptical canopy and the way you're loading it is probably why it feels a little wild. I think going to something like the Pilot would be an excellent choice. It also depends what you're wanting to spend. Buying something like a Sabre 2 or any of the other great square / slightly tapered canopies like the Safire 2 or Fusion from gear dealers overseas (or even through our local dealers) is really going to hurt the South African pocket. I'd recommend you look at something second hand, possibly out of the classifieds here on DZ.com. The ZP EXE is something to look at and you might consider a Hornet, there are still a few larger ones around. I'd definately consider upsizing like the others have said but make sure you check with your CI before you make any decisions. Hope this helps.
