heavydude 0 #1 March 9, 2011 About a year or so there was a thread about possibly having a Skydiving movie about DanBC. Sounded like a good idea to me. What ever happened to project?
AggieDave 6 #2 March 9, 2011 It was mired in 4 minute freefall drug runner base jumpers who crashed a Caravan, then found out that the packer was actually a TSA agent undercover, trying to grab everyone's junk.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." quade 4 #3 March 9, 2011 There are approximately 10,000 scripts floating around Hollywood at any given moment. Approximately 350 movies will be made in the US in any given year for theatrical release. Approximately 30% of those will be "original" scripts. The vast majority will be scripts based on already successful intellectual properties; existing books, plays, amusement park rides, video games, comic book heros and remakes of older films. It takes, on average, about 10 years from the time a person writes a movie to the day it's released in a theater if it's one of the lucky ones to get made. Writing an original script is long odds no matter who the writer is or what the subject matter is. A movie about skydiving would be a particularly difficult sell no matter what because of the perceived up front costs. Although Guy Manos proved it's possible to make a skydiving movie with plenty of real aerial footage, that's not the way most producers are going to think about it. They're going to see huge costs due to live and, in their minds, somewhat risky stunts. Dan BC is a friend of mine. I shot camera for him on countless big ways for years and was his 4-way camera flyer for a season. He's a GREAT guy and I wish him nothing but luck in the movie thing, but it's an incredibly difficult thing to try to sell and will take close to a miracle to get made.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
heavydude 0 #4 March 9, 2011 Oh well, maybe theres hope. I like all those Manos movies, was sort of motivational for starting Skydiving, despite the corny themes sometimes. Seems that with exception of Youtube the real Skydive movie business has sort of dried up. Granted there are some killer Youtube videos on SD and BASE.
