theonlyski 8 #1 March 8, 2011 This morning, driving on to Macdill, they scanned my card, and informed me it was expired as of today. They proceeded to turn me around and confiscated my ID card. Guess that means I'm a civilian now!"I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
normiss 898 #2 March 8, 2011 I had a Chief in the Navy that used to love to mess with us..."You're fired!" all the time. I regularly offered my ID card and would state "I quit!"

They really didn't need the armed escort to turn me around... Especially since I just parked outside the gate, called my boss and had a ride in a few mins, to take me thru the gate."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

jonstark 8 #6 March 8, 2011 Quote Yup, those guys don't fuck around... Damn Air Force! But sometimes they don't have a clue. I was working as a civilian at Andrews AFB in the mid-eighties. For some reason whenever I drove onto the base on the Air Force side, where I worked on the Army GIIIs, the guys would snap to attention and salute. On the Navy side they just looked and waved. I kinda enjoyed the snap-to. jon

Of course, at group... you're pretty surprised to see someone salute someone lower than a Lt Col."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

I've seen them do it if you have an officer decal on the car (blue bar with the post name) but never without that and/or an ID that says O-something."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Yup, and even then, it depends on if its a civilian gate guard, or an MP. I won't have that problem. No more 'Good morning, Sergeant' when I go thru the gate."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

JohnMitchell 16 #17 March 9, 2011 Quote One of the Tom Clancy books had a line that said something like "when in doubt, a Marine will salute a lamppost just to make sure..." A guy goes into the army with these simple rules. 1. If it moves, salute it. 2. If it doesn't move, pick it up and move it. 3. If it's too big to move, paint it. He was doing fine until he painted the general's wife.
