Niki1 2 #27 March 11, 2011 Do you pay less attintion to the other driver when passing on the left? I don't believe bitching about it will change anything. I bitched about it for years and the clueless are still there. I just resign myself to passing them on the right just as carefully as I would on the left. Paying attintion to them becarse they might not see me (they're clueless) and for whatever reason start to come over into my lane. It takes less time and "enhances my calm." It also lets me feel morally superior and I have few enough occassions to feel like that. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. futuredivot 0 #28 March 11, 2011 Nope-but the left hand loungers were pacing the right hand lane traffic a lot of the time. had one broad stay 1/2 car length behind a semi (it in the right lane, her in the left) most likely afraid to drive with a truck on one side and concrete divider on the other. Geesh-it you're not going faster than the car beside you. Get over-some of us have places to be. and don't get me started on when I approach a vehicle from the rear, get ready to move left to pass but have a car in the left lane blocking me in that won't pass or fall in behind. Common courtesy. If you are not actively passing someone or allowing for a merge or vehicle on the shoulder, you have no biz in the left laneYou are only as strong as the prey you devour
nigel99 626 #29 March 11, 2011 I thought these were the only traffic laws in your neck of the woods. 1) Dim your headlights for approaching vehicles, even if the gun is loaded and the deer is in sight. 2) When approaching a four-way stop, the vehicle with the largest tires does not always have the right of way. 3) Never tow another car using panty hose and duct tape. 4) When sending your wife down the road with a gas can, it is impolite to ask her to bring back beer too. 5) Do not lay rubber while traveling in a funeral procession. By the way what is up with little people and animal pictures on the rear windscreen? I can never figure out if it is the family (man, wife, boy, girl and dog or cat seem common) or the score card of who has been run over? Seems to be a South Carolina thing.Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

What is proper etiquette if you are passing people in the left lane 5 to 10 mph faster than the right lane traffic and someone starts riding your ass because they think you should be passing at 15 to 20 mph faster than right lane traffic? I pull to the right lane after I’ve passed the car/cars on the right. I may even accelerate a little but I’m not going to floor it.

Most states also have an 80th percentile rule also. Speed limits on most roadways have nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with money. School zones and hospital zones and in-town areas make sense to encourage slower traffic. Everywhere else, it's about money. There's a town in Ohio that lost its charter and incorporation because of abuse of speed zoning rules (among other things). So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
