Quote And all the corners will have to be Anti-Clockwise It does appear that this Austin track will be counter-clockwise, but there are more clockwise tracks in the US than you may think. Some of the notable clockwise tracks are Road America, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Indianapolis Infield Track, Road Atlanta, Infineon, VIR, Limerock, Barber Motorsports and Summit Point. This Austin track will be interesting. It looks like a cross between the modern day Hockenheim, Suzuka and the tracks in Istanbul/Shanghai. Of course it remains to be seen if passing opportunities will exist on the track or if the races will be processional. Nevertheless I say having F1 in the USA is a good thing (the track will also be used for MotoGP races). The only downside to Austin is, an existing track must be taken off the calendar to accommodate the Austin race and it would be a shame of that existing race was Melbourne. Since Bahrain is in political turmoil I would rather see that race be turfed over the Australian GP. But Montreal is well liked by not only the fans, but the drivers also like it. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is well located being only 10 minutes (non-rush hour) away from downtown Montreal, it has easy metro access so parking is not an issue for the hundred thousand or so fans who attend the race and the track is a cross between the tight unforgiving street circuit of Monaco and the high speed high braking circuit of Monza. The only downside to Montreal is when the concrete breaks up on the track (damn those icy winters). Of course if F1 wanted a real challenge with a deteriorating track, they would hold the race on the public roads in Montreal complete with man eating pot holes and crumbling bridges. I have never driven the real world version of Barber Motorsports, but I have driven the virtual version and it is a good track and the Indy cars prove that it is well suited for open wheel racing. I think Road America and Watkins Glen as well as Miller Park are also all US based tracks that could easily handle a modern day F1 race. But Bernie Ecclestone wants his races close to urban areas and of course the most import criteria for Ecclestone is who is willing to give him the most money for the right to hold a race. Bernie Ecclestone needs to be perpetually bitch slapped for some of the things he has done to the sport. Bernie was good for F1 in the 1970s and 1980s ... but he has clearly lost his marbles now that he has aged.
