Roxxx 0 #1 April 20, 2011 Some sayings... (just sharing) "Stop, look, and listen" (before the jump). "There is power in silence;" hear and listen. "Better to walk a long way, than be carried a short." "Better to be down here wishing you were up there, than up there wishing you were down here." "No hurries, no worries" (know your skill and progess at your own speed while learning) "Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast" (speed can slow us down) Canopy safety – complacency, and lack of communication killing us? This Information Age has changed our way of communicating. Personally, I am finding it to be more passive, (texting rather than talking). Society has removed, or maybe I should say changed, the stimulation of our interactions. Five senses can be stimulated in an interaction and the more senses stimulated, the more memorable the moment. Also, we have extreme diversity all around us with more and more jumpers/people from different backgrounds and dz(s). My experience in communication issues has been as simple as the north vs. the south. (These Northerners’, use a lot of them there words! Lol) It's good, but can be so detailed that I lose the main point sometimes… (well, I get bored listening, so, yes, my own issue). The eyes are the window to the soul. As soul mates, skydivers, stop, look, and listen… let’s save ourselves and each other! Those lost are greatly missed... greatly.
JohnMitchell 16 #2 April 20, 2011 How about this? "Approach every skydive as if it could kill you. Because it can." I feel some folks feel bulletproof. I know for a fact I'm not. In fact, some days I feel more like a target.

JohnRich 4 #5 April 20, 2011 I think this thread belongs in one of the topical skydiving-related forums, along with the other 10 just like it, rather than in Bonfire.
