SkydivingNurse 0 #1 February 27, 2005 It's been a while since my last jump, and since I'm still on student status, my DZ will probably want me to wear the student helmets with the radio inside. My question is this: would a balaclava help keep the wind out of my face? It's really annoying to me, and it's the reason why I bought a Z1 full face after my first jump. Thanks for any input. BTW, on my last few jumps, I had the radio attached to the chest strap, it stayed put and I could hear just fine, I don't want anyone to think that my DZ would let me jump without a radio, even though they do a kick butt job of preparing people for radio failures. AggieDave 6 #2 February 27, 2005 I wear one when it gets really cold, a nice polypro Balaclava. They're great. Ask your instructors if its ok if you wear one and make sure the eye opening is large enough and centered so it doesn't impaire your vision. Also you may need to leave your nose out so not to fog goggles.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
chuckbrown 0 #3 February 27, 2005 Get a windproof one. Campmor sells good ones for under $20.
SkydivingNurse 0 #4 February 28, 2005 Thanks guys, appreciate the input. I'll be sure to ask if it's ok to use first, fo'sure. Keeping my nose out of it shouldn't be a problem, this big honker on the end of my face probably wouldn't fit inside the balaclava.
