Hooknswoop 19 #1 February 24, 2005 I have a MR-150-MZ in the loft and SB 1221 has been C/W, but it still has the Type III .75 tape for the line attachment points instead of the Type I .5625 tape. Didn’t PA start replacing the Type III with Type I when they would do the SB? I remember reading some te4st results that indicated that the second bar-tack didn’t increase the strength of the line attachment point and didn’t solve the problem. I am not real comfortable with the Type III tape. Derek
ryoder 1,590 #2 February 24, 2005 I have one that was carried out by PA, and even has George's signature on it. All they did was add a second bartack."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. They did that to the one I owned at the time and this one too. I thought they atarted replacing the tape after a while though. What does PA currently do for the SB for a canopy with the Type III tape? Derek
skybeergodd 0 #4 February 24, 2005 I believe they stated the tape was note the issue(not the problem) the SB sent out stated only the fix that was needed was a second bartack and they specified what type of stitch and machine and if the rigger wished to change the tape that was their option....but if you sent your rig to PA to get updated they would change the tape and put the second bartack on......But now according to them "the original tape was fine and only a second bartack was needed"..now if this were really true then why does PA replace the tape if they do the update??...HMMMMMMM??????? Anyway hope this helps!!! Kelly
riggerrob 643 #5 February 24, 2005 There are two ways to perform the Service Bulletin. The first method simply requires sewing a second bar-tack. But I much prefer the second method which involves replacing all the Type 3 line attachment tapes with Type I.
