crazydiver 0 #1 February 23, 2005 I am looking at buying a Javelin XRS. From what I have read, a samurai 105 will not fit into it. I've heard that even a pd 113 is tight in it. Wondering waht people think. Thanks all. Cheers, Travis
RTB 0 #2 February 23, 2005 A PD113R is tight if there is a cypres in there, otherwise it's ok. A Stilletto 97, or equivalent, is a good size, larger can fit but it will be more difficult to get it to look good.
RozeAY 0 #3 February 23, 2005 I used to have an XRS with a cypres, PD 113, and both a Stiletto 107 and 97. The 107 was tight though. I think I also had a Jedei 105 in there at one point which was also very tight.
upndownshop 0 #4 February 23, 2005 The XRS was built for a PDR113 and up to a 100 non crossbraced main or 74 to 79 crossbrace main. Hope that helps.
arlo 0 #5 February 23, 2005 i think you should buy a container that fits the canopies you're jumping. is an NJ not small enough for ya?
larsrulz 0 #6 February 23, 2005 My samurai 150 is nociceably tighter than a stilleto 150 I have jumped. I would personally take this to mean that if a stilleto 107 was tight as mentioned above, then a samurai 105 will be even tighter, but I don't have personal experience with it. I got a strong urge to fly, but I got no where to fly to. -PF
Samurai136 0 #7 February 23, 2005 Are you buying an XRS New or Used? If used, buy a different container. It will be a tight fit and you may have issues w/ bag spin, line twists, etc. If new, tell sunpath what you are jumping for main and reserve and let them pick the container size. Samurai136 0 #9 February 23, 2005 What size? What's 'big' to you? You're loading a PD143 at nearly 1.6... You were expecting to get a TNJ or something? Ken"Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken
crazydiver 0 #10 February 23, 2005 I am getting a second rig. I dont want to buy the original series of javelins for my second rig. There was a good deal on an xrs, but I didnt know what size main it would fit. Cheers, Travis
SkymonkeyONE 4 #11 February 24, 2005 Quotei think you should buy a container that fits the canopies you're jumping. is an NJ not small enough for ya? I agree. The hell you pay trying to pack that Samurai into an XRS will make you nuts. "Sub 100" standard canopy means sub 100. I had a Stilleto 97 in my old XRS and it was tight. I had a Tempo 120 reserve in it.
Brains 2 #12 February 24, 2005 Out of curiosity, what does the X stand for? Is it a 1/2 size smaller or something or is it just for Odyssey's?? I have a javelin RS and my Xfire2 109 fits perfectly with my pdr113 and cypres. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
craddock 0 #13 February 24, 2005 My buddy jumped a jedie 105 in an XRS for many years. Then he put an FX89 in it. since he has got a new container and has put the jedie back in the XRS. I have packed that XRS with both the Jedie and FX many times and while it is tight it is nowhere close to how foolishly? tight my Wings is with sub 80 canopies. I am not sure how much larger the Samurai is, but I can only wish my rig packed as easy as his XRS with a 105 or fx89 in it. I think he may have used an NJ d bag. I know it was slightly larger than the ont the XRS was shipped with. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side. diablopilot 2 #14 February 25, 2005 AFAIK XRS stands for eXtra Ridiculously Small....---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #15 February 25, 2005 Actually, I think it's really "extremely ridiculously small", and no, I am not kidding. The old XRS does not exist anymore and it was replaced by the identically sized RS. I had a '98 XRS and a "pre-PIA" RS Ody when I was jumping Javs.
