CanuckInUSA 0 #1 June 11, 2011 The 2011 24 Hours of Lemans race is approaching it's 2nd hour now and the last hour has been run under a safety car because of a huge crash by one of the race favorites. Alan McNish driving an Audi LMP1 car attempted a ill fated passing attempt on one of the slower GT cars. McNish smacked the Ferrari GT car and had a scary crash into the safety barriers. Rumors has it that no serious injuries have occurred, but as exciting as they are for the constant passing, these mixed class endurance races have their dangers. Here is one of many YouTube submissions of this crash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AsPrCErGUU and live streaming for the race can be found in a few places: http://www.audi-microsites.com/lemans/ http://www.justin.tv/freddy49_lemans#/w/1321767936 http://stream.speedtv.com/corvette Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
jakee 1,596 #2 June 11, 2011 Those photographers and marshals were damn lucky. The chassis of the car almost cleared the barrier, and that front wheel (and its razor sharp broken suspension struts) could have gone anywhere. Scary stuff!Do you want to have an ideagasm? CanuckInUSA 0 #3 June 11, 2011 There's been another big crash involving another front runner Audi LMP1 car. Mike Rockenfeller driving the Audi came together with another slower Ferrari GT car and Mike was sent hard into a barrier. It happened at night so the video is limited (I think the only view is the in car footage from Mike's car). It sounds like Mike did not suffer any serious injuries, but everyone is saying is was a violent crash.
