normiss 897 #1101 August 23, 2010 "Yuppie chrome" Defined as a cover or totally useless piece of chrome, usually made by Kuryakin. Such as the chrome rotor covers (WTF???), the transmission/engine interface cover, and the cylinder base covers to name a few. As opposed to a functioning part that has simply been chrome plated. I saw a thing on Speed Vision, where they took a stock twin cam, and within 45 minutes chromed the whole lower end of both sides with bolt on dressup covers...Granted it looked good, but now you just have more shit in teh way of working on teh motor hidden underneath! normiss 897 #1103 August 23, 2010 I also don't care for a lot of the covers because they capture dirt and debris - so in the long run they might actually cause some damage. I think I recall seeing a buddy's tick on oil pump cover on an Evo like that. Dirt would cake up behind it. ick.

Pokerstar 0 #1108 August 24, 2010 Wow, sweet scooter! The jockey shift would take some getting used to ! I'm bad enough with the stiff a** clutch on my road glide!Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber. --- The Dude ---
skyrider 0 #1109 August 24, 2010 LOL , Thanks, I have been riding Jockey shift for over 30 years, it just seem natural, even my wifes is hand shift! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v400/onekick/DSCF2050.jpg In stop and go traffic, foot clutch is much nicer! ZigZagMarquis 9 #1110 August 24, 2010 Quote In stop and go traffic, foot clutch is much nicer! *confused look* That seems counter-intuitive to me... but you're the expert... anyway, would be curious to hear your logic / experience on that please? ZigZagMarquis 9 #1112 August 24, 2010 Quote You ever flex a Harley clutch in and out repeatedly?? Nah, just that on a Kawi 185 dirt bike... and not in traffic... and not in a really long time, got motorcycles out of my system at 18... Anyway, thanks, that makes sense. I was thinking (mistakenly) that it would more comfortable in stop and go traffic to hold the clutch with your left hand and not left foot, so your foot could be free to put down... shows you what I know... will be more careful in these here biker threads... normiss 897 #1113 August 24, 2010 High performance tranny's, clutch plates, springs, pressure plates can make it worse too. My last stroker motor had the higher compression pressure plate - damn that thing would make my hand cramp bad!

NickD You using "on/off" switches, or "hold down" buttons like harley did? I kind of like the hold downs, no way to forget they are on, your thumb is still holding it! NickDG 23 #1118 August 28, 2010 So I'm out the other day, just puttin' around on Nina, and I'm cruising through Montrose, just smiling at the ladies, and all of a sudden I see several police cars up ahead and the cops are wrestling with some guy on the side of the road. And like always, I think, "Hey, better him than me." So, I goosed Nina a little bit and blew on by them. The next day I learned it was an actor from the "Son's of Anarchy" TV show. His name is Mark Boone Jr, but I've never seen the show so I don't really know who he is. (I live the life, not watch it on the tube, LOL) Funny thing was he wasn't on a bike, he was in a mid-90s white Thunderbird. (What, no Limo?) Here's the booking report from local sources: NAME: HEIDRICH, MARK LORENZ DOB: 3/17/1955 Charge: 243(B)PC Bail Amount: $20,000.00 Booking #: 2452807 Report #: 100014356 Arrest Date/Time: 8/24/2010 1640 Booking Date/Time: 8/24/2010 1741 Sex: M Height: 5'09" Weight: 240 Hair: BRO Eye: BRO Occupation: ACTOR Location of Arrest: HONOLULU AV/RAMSDELL AV (243(B)PC is battery on a police officer.) Everyone (around here) thinks it was a publicity stunt for the new season of the show, but it looked real enough to me. So, way to get into your "part" Bro, LOL! ryoder 1,590 #1121 August 29, 2010 What a coincidence. Last night I watched the latest DVD delivered by Netflix: "Memento" (2000). And the motel clerk was Mark Boone Junior."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. NickDG 23 #1123 September 4, 2010 Thanks, I'll look into it . . . I just got pulled over for the first time on Nina. I was going down Tuna Canyon Road this morning (getting a ride in before it got too hot out) and I passed a Glendale motor officer going the other way. He gave me enough of a look that I knew he was going to turn around and come after me. He came up on me, but just paced me for a bit. (I was doing the speed limit the entire time.) He got into my blind spot so I turned my head to look at him and he motioned me over. We were on a curve and it was a narrow two laner so I kept going looking for a safer spot. (I see enough people getting hit on the side of the road at work.) And he seemed to know what I was doing. I came to side street, signaled (with my brand new turn signals, LOL) and pulled up. He was riding a BMW. He said hello and I said hello and he mentioned he pulled me over because of my license plate. He said from the right side of the bike it was impossible to see. I told him according to the law it was legal and he just looked at it for a while. "Well," he said, "I guess it's all right." I was thinking he probably had no trouble running my plate number while he was pacing me but I didn't say anything. "Are all those lights working?" "Yes sir, all those lights are working." He then asked for my license, registration, and insurance, but he didn't run me through the radio for warrants or anything. "Okay," and he was smiling now, "that's a real nice bike you have there. Have a good weekend and be careful out here!" And that was that . . . NickD

skyrider 0 #1125 September 5, 2010 I usually spend several minutes explaining to them that there were no turn signals in 1942, or frame numbers, and that the 2 extra lights on the rear of mine are added on brake lights, to help my old 6 volt tail ight actually be seen at night! I love it when I see them going the other way, then U turn, I just pull over and wait...for some reason, it pisses them off, that they didn't get to follow me a few blocks!
