Winter Bike Project . . .

Recommended Posts

Vagaries in non-Moco frame geometry means nothing just bolts right up so everything needs a tweak of some sort. I could have worked the lower bracket some to get the upper bolt centered up but I'm cool with it.

Just today I realized the battery isn't going to fit (too tall) without totally reworking my rear fender mounts. This is the price I'm paying for not taking the mock up stage right up to a running bike. I thought I had it all figured out but I didn't . . .

Hi Nick,

I thought I had it all figured out but I didn't . . .

So is it now called: Winter/Spring Bike Project

Doing things a couple of times when you're only spending your time & not your $$$ is what makes it fun. :P

PS) Your mount sort of reminds me of the license plate bracket I made for my '56 Porsche when I was stationed in France. That took a couple of go-arounds also. :S

Nick have a look at the Odessey or Dekka Batteries
the Odessey PC545 will work on your bike and it's tiny

Wow, Squeak, that just might do it! At 5 1/8" tall that's the shortest battery (with a decent CCA) I've seen. You just might have saved Nina from wearing a lame horseshoe oil tank! If I ever have a son I'm naming him Sque . . . eh, wait a minute, big thanks Bro!

Coming along nicely, npothing feels better than making your own parts!

But start lifting wieghts and working the heavy bag for all the dickheads that complement you on your "bigdog" or "Ironhorse" factory chopper!:S, takes a lot out of a guy bitch slappin idiots!

Ya know Nick, as the weather has started to warm up, I've been wondering if this "Winter Bike Project" of yours will turn into a Summer Bike Project of yours.

Then I went and looked and saw you started this thread Dec 16, 2008.

So, I guess I should really ask, "Which winter?"

Sorry, just pokin' fun. ;)

Looking forward to the YouTube you'll post when you get her running. :)

As a person that used to build bikes for a living , I can tell you setting "dates" is a bad idea....shit happens!

:ph34r::ph34r:Tell me about it, I've been waiting 4 months for an item that was meant to be in stock>:(

At 8:30 this morning "Beverly" called me from the Stealer, my rear brake parts were in. So I went down to pick them up and man, she had a rack out to here ------------------------>!

I had a few hours before work so I mounted Nina's oil tank, set her back up on her gear, and put her black boots on. She looks sexy in black, not as sexy as Beverly, but not too bad . . .

I'll try and get a shot of Bev the next time I'm at the Stealer. But I'm one of those types that when I see a beautiful woman I act like I don't notice. So I'll have to do it on the sly. Woman like that I think. . . :S

I put Nina's final drive chain on today. Thank goodness it all lined up. Figuring out the offsets needed for all that was way too close to physics. Now I can cut the rear fender, buff it out, and paint it. Then I can get busy with the belt drive and the wiring.

I just had to throw on Nina's fatbobs, just to see how she looked.

I gotta admit. Nina is starting to look like a tough gurl !!!

"Tins" I got . . .

The front fender is ready to mount but the rear one needs a cutout for the chain and paint.

Had a few hours today so with the rear brake parts I picked up at the Stealer I put that all together. I'm hoping like hell the Moco made those so they only go together one way as, even with the manual, it was kind of a puzzle.

I also put Nina's snazzy new red chain, her motorplate, and her drive pulleys on. Tomorrow I'm going to assemble and install her clutch and drive belt.

Won't be long now, boys . . .

NickD :)
