Recommended Posts

It's all a matter of timing...he may be able to relist it next week, and it will go big!

I have seen th epriginal tailight for my bike go as high as 1600, then a months later only 350!

(which is why I don;t run my original, it sits on a shelf safe at home, I run a repop!)

I'll bet he got some low-ball offers after the auction closed via e-mail . . .

I don't care for reserve auctions. Put the minimum price you're willing to take and let it fly.

But, it could be he was just testing the waters. The reserve price might have been something insane but now there's a lot of folks who know about this motor who didn't before. I'd wait a few weeks and let the idea circulate among the collector community then put it up again.

I don't know what they're called exactly but there's a certain class of motorcycle restorer, they belong to some organization I can't recall the name of, who are fanatical about everything being original down to the last nut, washer, and bolt. I can't believe those guys weren't all over this deal.

Maybe there is something fishy going on . . .

Ebay has blocked that function, you can no longer contact a seller after auction end, Unless of course you won the auction!

It is the Antique Motorcycle Club of America, http://www.antiquemotorcycle.org/ I have been a member for over 25 years , they Get ANAL about things on bikes!

Are you sure about that? I just clicked on "Ask Seller a Question" and it still works. I asked him if he was open to offers. I could have just as easily made him an offer and did the deal off Ebay.

I was at a bike show a year ago and saw two of those Antique Motorcycle Club of America guys almost came to blows over a very slight deviation in a paint scheme . . . :o

Damn . . .

In California . . .

Senate Bill 435 (motorcycle emissions) has been amended and is now scheduled for a hearing on June 21st.

Bill would require stock exhaust on all bikes manufactured after January 1, 1983.

California Senate Bill 435 (Pavley, 23rd District, D) is back. Despite repeated failure to garner support for past versions, Senator Pavley continues to unfairly target motorcycle owners. The latest version of the bill would require only stock exhaust systems on all motorcycles constructed since 1983, and mandates a $300 fine for any owner who is found to be in violation.

I wrote her last time she pulled this and also this time:

>>Dear Senator Pavely,

You fucking ignorant liberal motherfucking cunt lesbian labia flapping bitch (and what's up with that hair, it's so yesterday)
But like the way I post here on DZ.com I got a hold of myself and deleted all that and wrote a polite point by point letter, to her, and all who voted on it, on why this is so ridiculous.

And don't get me wrong, I'm as liberal as they come. And have been long before she was even born.

But freedom means putting up with each others eccentricities. I don't get mad at the kid blasting his boom box in the lane next to me. (Although I laugh at their taste in music.) I don't get mad at the guy walking around with his pants on the ground. I don't get mad at any of the off the wall things people do. That's "freedom" in a nutshell . . .

In total it's what makes us, us . . . or better stated U.S.!

More info here: http://capwiz.com/amacycle/issues/alert/?alertid=15140966&queueid=[capwiz:queue_id]

Don't think you're exempt because you ride a stock Buy-Cycle bike, they'll be coming for you next . . .

On the religious front, LOL, I'm hitting all the hot buttons today . . .

There's a Catholic church (St. James) down my street. I'm not really a practicing religious person but I grew up a good Catholic boy and all my primary schooling was parochial. So I thought, like Grandma's chicken soup, it couldn't hurt to have Nina blessed by a Father in the Parish. I did it with every new skydiving and B.A.S.E rig I ever owned so it's become more of a superstition now as in, "Hey, so far so good."

So I wrote them an e-mail to set it up and told them I'd drop a C note in the collection box for their trouble.

Of course they said no problem, just let them know when I'd like to do it. But what got me is they never miss a chance to put the fear of God into you. Here's the last line from their e-mail back to me (not to mention I think it's pretty cool God's online now.)

"Nick, until you can get down here, please be as careful on your motorcycle as you can."

Great, now I got the jinx on me. You gotta hand it to the Catholic Church. They really know how to sell . . .

On the second point, I was raised catholic, I am athiest now...BUT, I never gave up the blessed crusifix I recieved for my first communion.(Age 8).. It is still on my cut off...I repsect all religions , (other than muslim) Shhhhh, don't get the tjhread moved)

Faith , like anything, keeps your head straight...it is seldom a bad thing!
