ColdDuck 0 #1 February 14, 2005 I have had a G4 with a Unysin for the last year and a half. Right off the bat I was not really impressed with the comfort of the harness. the Folks at Mirage suggested that it would simply take some time to break in the harness. Jumping yesterday, the comfort of the harness hass not changed. I have tried on several other Mirages with the Unysin harness and they feel really comfortable. Just curious if anyon else has gotten a new rig, Mirage or anyother with articulation that has not really fit you that well? Thanks "Insurance should called In case shit happens, if shit don't happen shouldn't I get my money back?"
Hooknswoop 19 #2 February 14, 2005 Comfort is subjective, hence the "sleep number system" beds. What is comfortable to one is uncomfortable to another, and vice versus. Derek
GravityGirl 0 #3 February 14, 2005 Can you take some pics front and side of your in your rig as you would adjust it when you are ready to skydive? Mine if very comfortable. But I take my leg pads and rotate them forward to find a "sweet spot". I tighten my chest strap first. Then I tighten my leg pads and rotate. Let me check out your fit.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
diablopilot 2 #4 February 14, 2005 Mine fits great. I selected "Medium" as how I like my fit. Who did your measurements. Have you been wearing more clothing under your rig than usual?---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. ColdDuck 0 #5 February 14, 2005 No I generally wear the same amount of clothes whil jumping. I was curious about the question on the Mirage order form that ask if you want the rig to fit tight, medium, or loose. I chose medium as did everyone else that I know. My DZO did the measurements, we looked back at the measurements she took and verified that they were the ones that Mirage used to build the harness. The area where my rig is uncomfortable is in my chest and shoulders. At the DZ the other day I noticed that my reserve risers seem to have a lot of tension on them compared to other rigs that I saw on the DZ. On the ground and in the plane I find myself pushing the mudflaps away from my body to relieve the pressure on my shoulders. Have your rigger look at them, and perhaps adjust things a bit. This is one of those things that is especially difficult to address on a forum, and relatively easy to deal with in person. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
riggermick 7 #7 February 14, 2005 Main lift web too short or laterals too short or both. doesn't have to be by much. Time is short gotta go to work, I'll try to give a more detailed answer later. Mick.
Squeak 17 #8 February 14, 2005 Could also be a body shape issue. I have difficulty getting harrness' to fit me (any harness) because of the way my shoulders slope. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
johnny1488 1 #9 February 14, 2005 Quote I have tried on several other Mirages with the Unysin harness and they feel really comfortable. I would contact mirage with a new set of measurements done by someone else, the serial numbers of your rig and the rig you think is comfortable. Everyone is different and even though the rigs people get fit most people, some people have different body shapes. I think mirage will take care of this problem. ColdDuck 0 #11 February 15, 2005 I will try to get some pics (my rig is at the DZ). I tighten my chest strap first also. How tight do you tighten your chest strap? Unless the rig he thinks is comfortable has the same canopies as his rig you will be comparing apples and oranges. I thinks Mick might be on to something, MLW to short. GravityGirl 0 #13 February 16, 2005 Snug, but not painful. I like a straight line over my shoulders to my handles. I'll try to take a pic later too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
upndownshop 0 #14 February 16, 2005 Most people do not put their rig on correctly. Route your chest strap first but do not tighten. Once you are ready then reach back with your right arm and put it under the rig at the BOC then lift the rig up high on your shoulders and tighten the chest strap with your other hand. Make it extra tight. Then tighten your leg straps. What you will notice is that the rig is now sitting higher up your back where it should be and it stays there. This keeps the weight off your lower back and since we spend more time on the ground and in the aircraft than in the air this can be a great relief for alot of us. Leave the chest strap extra tight all the way up, this also helps keep the bottom of the rig off the floor of the A/C. Before you exit make sure you loosen the chest strap to normal. The tight chest strap will pull the shoulders of the harness closer together therefore setting you up for a riser strike. Don't want that at all, especially with out a helmet on. As far as I know all manufacturers recommend that procedure and have since the beginning of time. Also Mirage wants your hip rings to fall at the TOP of your hip bone. Most people miss that as well, the top of your hip should actually be in line with your belly button, most people think it is lower..not true. If you push in on your side level with your belly button you can feel where the top of the bone is. The center of the hip ring (the hole) should be at the top of the bone. Doesn't have to be exact but close is good. Thats my $.02 worth. Hope it helps.
madyuck 0 #15 February 17, 2005 I just bought a G4 with a Unysin harness, and it feels great. I find it very comfortable. I do thread and tighten the chest strap to where I feel its comfortable before I tighten my legs straps, also I lean forward while I tight my leg straps. But after that it feels great jeff
