Movie or concert?

Recommended Posts

Last night I went to a concert by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra of the complete musical score from The Fellowship of the Ring. They also showed the movie itself, from which the musical score had been digitally removed from the soundtrack, on a huge screen over the orchestra.

So was it a concert accompanied by a video, or a movie with live musical accompaniment?

Hmmm.... first off, that sounds like it was a cool evening! Second, I'll answer your question with a question:

Did they cut or pause the movie to adjust it's timing for they symphony?

OR, did the Symphony need to shuffle along through the music exactly as the movie was edited?

Therin lies your answer, I believe.

At the cost of $25 - $65 per ticket, I'd say it was a concert.

Plus, people were most likely there to see the CSO, not Frodo.

Movie was not cut or paused. Conductor did an incredible job synchonizing with the movie.

(of course, the CSO IS the World's Best Orchestra.)

If they did it well and you Enjoyed it kind of mute question really ?. I would have enjoyed the music with or without the film myself:)
