It`s virus or malware. I had that problem like that with my gmail account. It seemed that I got it when I clicked on an ordinary inconspicuous looking link in an e-mail that one of my work buddies sent me. Changed the password, updated anti-virus-malware software and all was back on track again.

Although, I have a Mac now and still have gotten this stuff before. I though Macs are impervious to stuff like this.

I also have Macs, and PC at work, from where I also check my emails.... Changed my password , and also deleted all my contacts :)

don't know, I received like 50 "undeliverable" emails apparently from old contacts

Its a form of spam. Some e-mail filters are so crappy that if an e-mail message is formatted as if its bouncing back because it couldn't be delivered, the filter will let it through. And so spammers obviously abuse this.

I had that happen to me before.

Like what the other said, changing the password and updating the antivirus helps a lot.

Well most likely unless you are using an exchange (work) or Pop3 forwarding account to say something similar to an outlook client then you would be using a HTML based mail application. Your computer and operating system become much less of a factor into the prognosis since you probably just got spoofed. Change your mail password to a C0mP1eX! password...if you use 'password' as your password I do not feel sorry for you.

Haven't heard of that method before, but it sounds plausible.
What cracks me up is the idiot spammers that send me spam with my own address as the sender.:S
Yeah, like I'll waste my time on that.:D
