AggieDave 6 #1 October 24, 2011 Some of you know of my on going VW project. Today I took my 1973 Volkswagen Superbeetle German Look project out for some pics (by me). It is a '73 Super with a Topline Parts MaXX strut conversion (with new bushings and strut brace), disc brakes conversion (drilled out for a 4x100 bolt pattern with press in studs), lowered 2 1/2", new interior with Scat Procar seats (modified to fit in the VW) and Watson Streetworks American Autowire wiring harness. The motor is a 2187cc Type 1 based EMPI bubble head case based motor with CB Performance 044 heads, a CB 3qt sump, Scat 1.4:1 rockers and dual Weber IDF 44 carbs. The exhaust is a merged setup with an A1 muffler. Literally everything is new and custom built and so far is an absolute blast to drive (even though the carbs are a b**** to tune). https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-JXbxIjHGW9w/TqTWZjt8gzI/AAAAAAAAExI/p-6SJm_k0aM/s912/EngineMarked.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-0SOz9Nyh6fI/TqTWYShAfKI/AAAAAAAAEww/Re_3FFKUZIE/s912/Side%252528feedstore%252529Marked.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-3a-snudP48s/TqTWZQ2YplI/AAAAAAAAEw4/x0oUzXxfbRw/s912/DSC_0020_1_2_3_4_tonemappedMarked.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-hKop3xZ4f1I/TqTWZTU7FEI/AAAAAAAAEw8/DYkhDbWOrRQ/s912/BackLeft%252528feedstore%252529Marked.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nsttoDma164/TqTXoQOlgiI/AAAAAAAAEy4/d4UwUJPytrs/s912/Me2.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-aKEBg1SC3cI/TqTWfeu4vII/AAAAAAAAEyo/UNuX2iqbz5Q/s912/SB-NoseMarked.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-UnVMkI9J1BQ/TqTWfvuVjhI/AAAAAAAAEyw/VNtHq5lTP_U/s912/SB-Side-paintMarked.jpg--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Krip 2 #2 October 24, 2011 Hi AD SweetWe had a bunch of VW's with few after market parts but your's is way over the top. Major $$$$ Do you have a hurst shifter with the triger for reverse (aftermarket), or the rear swing out windows for those hot days in texas (OEM parts from recycle center). All bolt on. We also had a aftermarket sun roof installed that was made for a VW. Found a rubberized gas tank that added another 10 gals, it was mounted in the front "trunk" and was filled from the top and then gravity fed the oem tank. In hind site we were lucky we never got into a accident on the front end or . Your engine is a monster whats the MPG, and how fast will it go? Get any speeding tickets yet, No chome, new rubbers around the windows, etc etc. I'll do a search and try and find the rest of the story. Unless you post a link firstThanks for the picsBTW if you screw up on the pro swooping circuit really really bad can I have first dibs on it I know I can'r spell get over it. Thats a very nice Carrr.R. . You racing it.? It's to sweet for a daily driver. One Jump Wonder
AggieDave 6 #3 October 24, 2011 It's a SCAT drag fast shifter with the pull up trigger reverse. No pop out rear quarter windows...no heater either with the high performance exhaust. As for the MPG, I don't know yet, haven't had a chance to figure it and since I'm still tuning those danged Webers, I wont' know for sure for a while. All I do know is that it goes like stink! I don't know the top speed yet since I haven't sat down and done the math for the difference in wheels with the stock VDO speedo yet. If I hook it in, my wife will probably want to get rid of that car (and my motorcycle), so be first in line! --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." skydived19006 4 #12 November 4, 2011 Pretty cool! I've owned a few Bugs over the years, but all Baja, with one in my garage right now. You didn't mention spending any money on the trans-axle. They're always a week link even in front of a 1600.Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ

As long as I don't launch it hard I will probably get it to last a few months.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
