wayneflorida 0 #1 January 4, 2012 Yesterday I was in Walmart looking to buy some bath soap. Something that's gentle, soothing and good for my skin like Dove or Ivory.Well I didn't see the type I wanted and was in intense rescan the shelf mode, in case I missed the soap the first glance, when I heard a voice about 10 feet down the isle. This lanky guy was walking toward me and talking. I notice that there was no one with him and realized that he was talking to himself. As he walked by me still talking I realized that I could not understand what he was saying. He was saying words I understood but it was just mumbo-jumbo, but not a mumble. He walked by me and I looked at him. When he was about 6 feet away he turned back toward me and got about 3 feet away still talking and looking towards the shelves. Then he just sat down crossed leg facing the shelves still talking. I stood there looking at him while he was having an unintelligible conversation with himself, from my point of view, for about 30 seconds. Then I thought "fuck the soap I'm out of here", and left. I'm sure the eyes on the ceiling were watching him and I wasn't going to stick around and be a target if he was going to go postal. Would you have done different? Trafficdiver 8 #4 January 5, 2012 I would have kept looking for the soap, I mean, it's walmart, they must have Dove and Ivory somewhere.

LisaH 0 #7 January 5, 2012 Why would you automatically assume he would go postal? People with mental issues do those type of things. Go about your business and don't make it an issue. Be yourself! MooOOooOoo

oldwomanc6 60 #10 January 5, 2012 Quote It used to be called schizophrenia. Now it's called Bluetooth. That was my thought, he is on the phone with his wife, who is trying to walk him through the myriad of soap options. He is probably confused as to what the heck perfumey body wash he is supposed to pick up. Frustrated, he falls to the ground and starts babbling. Just wait till he has to go to the feminine product aisle. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB
MikeJD 0 #11 January 5, 2012 QuoteHe was saying words I understood but it was just mumbo-jumbo What, like "soap, apples, cereal, dog food..."? If so, he'd just left his shopping list at home.
wayneflorida 0 #12 January 5, 2012 Nice one. In general- The soap I was looking for was not really Ivory or Dove. Walmart did not have my soap but I had other things to buy. I did not make an issue of his situation but just left the vicinity and continued with my shopping. He really didn't seem threatning but I didn't want to start having a conversation with him an realize that I didn't understand the context of what he was saying or have him start following me around the store.
