guppykf 0 #1 January 23, 2012 Heading down to Z-hills 23-27 Feb and need a place to stay. I called about the trailers and it looks like they are booked up. I went on their website and saw some hotels, but I dont know the quality versus the price, so looking for some advice from others that have travelled down there as to where to stay that isnt a roach motel and reasonable priced. We have 4 of us coming down. Thoughts?THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
missbrz 0 #2 January 23, 2012 The microtel next to the walmart is a popular choice. Small but nice rooms at cheap rates. Right next to Walmart & about 5 min from the DZ.

More like a 10-12 minute drive; even those with a real lead foot can't get through the commercial area traffic that fast! But I'd second the recommendation - the price is right and it includes an okay breakfast, too. Basic, but clean and comfortable rooms."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. raveninca 0 #4 January 23, 2012 We just pitched a tent when we were there at Christmas but if the camping thing is not for you then the quality inn has a discount for skydivers. I think it was $59 per night.
danornan 79 #5 January 23, 2012 Don't forget the Twilite..... Not the best, but it's a room, shower and clean sheets.... Well, it used to be! Nothing like waking up to the sound of a DC-3 in the morning.....Dano

guppykf 0 #7 January 24, 2012 Nope cant camp on this trip; flying down, hard to transport the esssentials (tent, COOLER, bedding, rig etc) on a plane I checked the mircotel and the Quality inn both are sold out; I've been told there's a car show during that weekend as well. Leaning on the Magnuson?? Unless someone has a better idea. Anyone know anything about the Clyde's Cottage, by mileage looks to be the closest, but i cant find any reviews online, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. thanks for all the info thus far! guppykf 0 #10 January 24, 2012 Yep renting a car. I have a work thing the following week, so company footing that bill. But I have to pay for the hotel stays for the fun stuff prior to the work stuff, plus there are 4 of us coming down, so splitting a fairly reasonably priced hotel shouldn't be too bad. The other 3 are leaving that Monday.THRIVING IN MY DASH!!

We flew into Tampa and there was a Walmart within 10 min of the airport. We got everything, tent, blankets, pillows, flashlights, food and even a nice big cooler for just over $100. Much cheaper than what a hotel would of cost. Warning about the Tampa walmart... don't stay in there too long, you might come out to find your rental car missing. There was some pretty questionable looking folks in that place

SkymonkeyONE 4 #14 January 25, 2012 The Magnuson for sure. It's right across from the Crystal Bar, right next to Wendys, KFC, and an EXCELLENT cuban restaurant and a quick run across 6th Ave (crack alley) to the DZ. Chuck
