Early morning start

Recommended Posts

So i decide after checking weather reports that the time had come to move on from my low level training stamina work, back to fitness and get my ass back on my training hill:).

Weather reports said snow flurries Tuesday and clear till Friday, we now how accurate weathmen are at times :P. So My new Scarpa Sl Activa boots turned up on Tuesday and tried them on. Fitted like a glove but decided well being leather they would need broken in and being C1 rated that would take time. wore them most of Tuesday with out any problems, so decided to use them.

So come Wednesday got up at 04:20am:oYawn:D, dressed chucked my gear in the car and drove through the night to get to the Hill for a 6 am start. Knowing Ben Ledi well i was comfortable setting of in the dark, as i have done night time walks in the past and quite happy navigating in the dark. So setting off The first stage was through the low remaining Forrest which when i first did the Hill used to stretch half way up but logging and management now means that there is only a small section at the bottom that goes about 1/4 way now. The trail through the woods where blocked due to fallen trees from the last storm we had last month.

Section 2 was the staircase where the rocks form a walk way up to where the old Forrest used to finish so stopped at the old fence and style for some munchies, while watching the traffic snake round the Loch below following their headlights. On and upward to the mentally challenging bit the false summit climbs. You now they are there but still depressing,even knowing they are there :D. On the way here the section was quite difficult due to loose rock covered in ice, just took time and care.

From the staircase to the false summits the snow started to build up as i went higher. I expected this so wasn't bothered. Getting there the wind picked up a bit so just started up on the fist hope ringing cheat. from there to the Summit it was a case of climbing up and trying not to stop for photographs too much :S:ph34r:, Stopped at the last hope killer to get a bit to eat and a drink to find my water bottles had frozen :D:D so Lucozade it was.

er why they froze :D:D

any idea

me neither:ph34r::D

put my gear back on ready for the last hump up when my phone went so answered Hello ! answered By hi this is the police we are phoning to see if we can come and collect the 2 stolen bicycles you took in :D:D I had to laugh and explain no and gave her the house phone to arrange that and carried on. The last climb in front of me and there is was the summit only 2800 ft but was quite chuffed as it was a major test on my fitness and gauging how close i was to being fit to jump

pictures from the summit and well

sometimes you get lucky

wonder if the mountain rescue guy its dedicated new the beauty here i think he did B|

marker stone

i also got some nice pictures to boot B| i didn't hang about on the summit so headed for the back door which to be honest i have only used one here as i found it a bit un-entertaining:S as it was chucking it down with rain last time all boggy and wet:D. this time round the back door was more entertaining but it wasn't just the water freezing My camera battery had taken a thumping with the cold. and was on the edge of dying.

Till next timeB|

so off i went for a wander Down Glen stank which due to no rain was more interesting in the snow :D. Almost back at the top of the first section. spotted mountain rescue but i had seen now one up and no alarms heard either. I can only suspect they where training or going over the route and events they used to rescue someone on the 5th of jan :S . Me i just set of to the car and home :D

Hope i didn't bore you all too much so just for you if i did :)
