WatchYourStep 0 #1 February 8, 2012 I'm sure it's something simple but I'm missing it... My wireless router (Linksys) has been transmitting the signal on the G Band. I just realized it this morning. Anyways my Mac wireless adapter supports a/b/g/n. I logged on the the router and switched it over to broadcast on the N Band. My computer still sees the router but it won't allow me to connect to it. I get "Connection Timeout" when I try to. What am I missing here? Any help or ideas appreciated. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. kd5xb 1 #2 February 8, 2012 I have an older Linksys router, so it might be a little different -- but try going to Wireless/Basic Wireless Settings and set it to Mixed rather than just N. Might work for you.I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.
WatchYourStep 0 #3 February 8, 2012 Yeah that does work at getting the computer to recognize it but I'm still running at G (19-22 Mbps) speeds instead of N (40 Mbps +). theonlyski 8 #4 February 8, 2012 Try changing the SSID on the router and seeing if that will allow you to connect."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Did you try changing the band from 2.4GHz to 5GHz (or vice versa)? I had to set my Linksys E2000 to 2.4GHz only for my Dell, Mac and iPhone to all work on it."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

peanut_gallery 0 #8 February 8, 2012 I've found that sometimes wireless cards and routers just wont mesh. Don't know why but they just wont be friends. A little trick I've found that can work is to set up a guest network through your router control. If the computer connects properly that way then you know that it has something to do with the security settings. If for some reason you can't get it to connect after playing with the security settings then leave the guest network open (no security), change the channel and guest network name, and set the SSID to not broadcast. Then you have to manually locate the network with the computer. I've had to do this a handful of times. Also check to see if there is any updates for both your router and wireless card.
