U.K T.V Science program (Horizon) on Fusion Energy

Recommended Posts

Dr Brian Cox takes us through the technology of Fusion .. very good and well explained... Well worth watching.

one interesting fact that he came out with ..
IN the U.K we spent more money on Mobile phone ring tones than we did on Fusion energy research ... Now that is fucked up!!

Is it done with the same level of scientific oversight that Horizon used for that Immunization debacle?

It's probably all right, simply because Brian Cox is a good presenter of information. Horizon in general has gone to the fucking dogs. It's been on a continual downward slope of dumbing down and increasing alarmism for the last decade. It's bad enough that we've got to deal with Big Wanker and I'm An Attention Whore Get Me Back On TV but when the flagship 'hard' science documentaries start aiming towards the lowest common denominator as well then it's a sad state of affairs.

(The best science show I've seen recently was a one off Brian Cox special about particle physics. It didn't have any CGI, it didn't have any exotic locations: it was a lecture. One man talking for an hour about physics. Why was it so good? Because he was standing in front of a blackboard actually doing some maths! Not just waffling over some metaphors and visual representations but actually showing people the equations that describe how things work and plugging in some actual numbers. More informative, more interesting and by treating the audience like adults, makes them feel smarter as well.)
