DrewEckhardt 0 #51 March 27, 2012 Quote>Budweiser is also technically an ale... What most people know as Budweiser (i.e. the beer sold by AB-Inbev, called Budweiser in stores) is fermented cold with a lager yeast. The BJCP categorizes it as a 1B, Standard American Lager. although under the German Reinheitsgebot it isn't even considered beer because rice is not among the permitted ingredients (water, hops, and barley). Of course, under Reinheitsgebot no modern beers (outside some lambics) are 'true' beers, since all use yeast cultures, and almost all use clarifiers, oxygen, yeast nutrient, external carbonation in the bright tanks, mash water adjustment etc. Only lambics inoculated via coolships, made without fruit or other adjuncts, AND bottle fermented via wort reinjection qualify to the letter.
