I find that anthropomorphizing is the most satisfying short-term solution
"the machine hates me."

It's generally less expensive than throwing it against the wall.

Other than that, I got nuttin'

Make an apt and take it to the apple store, they'll give you a new one.

Wonder why it died so soon... I'm on my second iPhone and never had that kinda issue in 3 or so years I've had them.

Is it totally dead? Is there some app still on, a light in the background and it just won't respond to anything? If so, the simple solution is to let the battery totally die then try charging it again. That's happened on my iPods and my iPhone before- kept trying to charge them and that only made it worse.

Try holding the home button and the power button down at the same time for many seconds. If it's not dead, it will eventually force a reboot or give you the slider that will say reboot ( or similar wording).

Try that before taking it to apple.

Thanks - that worked. Not mentioned in the instructions that came with the phone.

I wonder why it needed a reboot when only 3 days old???? That's worse than Windows.

Smartphones are computers...they'll always need reboots occasionally.

If it does it constantly, there could be a proper issue that needs looking at but if it's once in a blue moon then consider it the cost of using a complex piece of equipment.

Right. Spend some time on the iPhone then pick up a Windows phone. Be sure you report back with your findings.

It's not mentioned in the instructions because it's a 'hard reset'. Not something you should do a lot. (think of unplugging your desktop computer as a way of shutting it down)

Actually on page 38 of the current manual it says if you're having troubleshooting issues you should go to page 173 and on page 173 it's the second thing listed to do.

pffft...wasn't that like my recommendation?

Besides, a simple internet search for "iphone not working" would've worked just fine...oh well. What a drama king.:P

Yes, I know why you posted that. :)

And you know you're an old fart if your cell phone only makes phone calls; as mine only does.

HA!!!!

Mine makes and receives phone calls. It also functions as an answering machine. B|

I think it does some other things too, I know it takes pictures all by itself.I have a whole bunch of pictures of the inside of the car door. :P
