muff528 3 #4 June 12, 2012 Quote Maybe she was having an affair and she really didn't want Charlie to get off the MTA train. That's what I'm thinking! Sometimes song lyrics are quite funny if taken literally. I'm a fan of English traditional folk music and phraseology. There is one song that tells of a sailor who decides to check up on his girlfriend to see if she thinks of him. He sails into town and bangs on her window and she is awakened. She asks who it is and he replies that it is her lover and he asks her to let him in. She takes her sweet time dragging her ass out of bed and down the stairs. By the time she opens the door he has bugged out. She begs him to come back and she'll marry him. He is so pissed off that he replies that pigs will fly (paraphrasing) and "laboring men will forget their labors" before he comes back to her lazy ass. Beautiful song, though. Then, I take it that "George" O'Brien lost the election.
