The skydiver, who was not identified, was skydiving out of the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport with the Skydiving Company of Skydive Panama City. The skydiver landed in a wooded area near Middle Beach Road and Richard Jackson Boulevard and Alf Coleman Road. The initial report from a witness was that a man had fallen without a parachute. Officers arriving on-scene found the main parachute in The Club apartments. Two parachutists were later located in the old Publix parking lot unharmed. The Panama City Beach Police Department handled the incident with assistance from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office helicopter. Information was later provided to officers on scene that the parachutist had lost steering on the main parachute and had to deploy the secondary parachute. A second parachutist landed safely. No injuries were reported. http://www.newsherald.com/news/city-104237-beach-panama.html
likestojump 3 #2 July 23, 2012 the "missing until found" is really good use of English... "his main chute failed to open" and "the parachutist had lost steering on the main parachute and had to deploy the secondary parachute" - Was the person trying (unsuccessfully) to steer a baglock ? :)
