quade 4 #9 July 25, 2012 "How soon can we start Batman movie jokes?" To me, the question seems to always come down to the possibility of one of the victims or their survivors being in the audience. It's not whether or not you might offend somebody, but rather whether you'll further victimize somebody who has already suffered enough. I didn't hear anyone on this web site mention a relationship to any of the victims, so you're probably safe. However, there's another web site I frequent where one of the Mods is a good friend of the gal who got shot in the head and a previously undiagnosed tumor is what seems to have saved her. Probably a bit too early to say anything other than best wishes there.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #10 July 25, 2012 I haven't seen the movie, yet, but I heard that people were dying to see it. (We're both going to hell, Normiss.) *I was surprised that the posts in this thread made me giggle, but it makes sense. I cannot imagine anyone not feeling deep sadness for the survivors and loved ones of those shot/killed...hence, the need for eventual laughter and smiles. Overall, I agree with Quade about being careful to not cause further hurt to those who are suffering. Peace to all.

BillyVance 35 #18 July 30, 2012 I just remembered an old comedy skit that I think ended up on America's Funniest Videos during the Bob Saget years, so it's been a while, even I couldn't find it in a search. This guy with a batman mask on does impressions of certain characters. I remember he imitated Pee Wee Herman and the Rain man guy portrayed by Dustin Hoffman. When he did rain man, his face turned stony and he deadpanned "The joker definitely killed 2.3 people, yeah, yeah" Anybody remember that one? Who knew he'd be way off on the count... WatchYourStep 0 #19 July 31, 2012 Serious question here.....would people think it was funny if people were making 9/11 jokes? Just wondering..... Edit to add: Could also apply this to the Colombine shootings, Holocaust or any other tragedy. I'm not offended by the posts, just wondering what people would think if the topics mentioned above would also be funny.... ianmdrennan 2 #20 July 31, 2012 IMO - yes. It's sort of like the South Park idea: As soon as you shy away from one topic, you make everything controversial. WatchYourStep 0 #23 July 31, 2012 Not really that different, different scale yes but underlying theme is similar....Messed up individual(s), killing people....you can say reasoning or scale makes them different, but in the end....crazy mofo(s) killing people. Again I'm not offended by any of the conversation just wondering where people would draw the line. For example, again just an example....what if someone posted.... "How soon can we start (insert any well known skydiving fatality here) jokes?" Sidenote: How is this not in Speakers Corner yet....
