It always cracks me up when flying for the female captain to board or come out of the _cockpit_ and the ever present elderly lady will say something like, "We have a woman flying the plane?!?!?!?" Or, "Did you see that?!?!?! We have a woman Captain!!!!" I just can't help myself. You know that. I know that. So, my response has been along the lines of, "Oh dear God, we should probably get off before they close the doors." "Yeah, that's my wife... you should see what a bad driver she is." or some other smart ass comment of the day. It's like watching the elderly female bug verbally devour the younger female ones. What they complained about and wanted for generations, now friggin astounds them. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
