BIGUN 1,488 #1 September 9, 2012 OK, Guys, who's got it. Does it work well?. Are they fibbing about actually running fiber to the house? Pro's Cons? Cox is just outta control with my bill at $200.00+ Looking at the package that is greater than my current 14 down and 5 up internet speeds (See Attachment)Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. quade 4 #2 September 9, 2012 I have it. It works better than anything else I've ever been able to get at my house. As to whether or not they're telling the truth about fiber to home, it all depends on your area and in general when your home was built. My home and neighborhood was build in the mid-40s. Because of that, some infrastructure is quite old. AT&T fiber goes to a central "box" for the neighborhood and copper goes from that to my home. The max distance for this arrangement would normally be about 2,000 feet, but since the distance from my home to their box is about 3,500 feet, I bitched and moaned and made them find a way to make it work. It's not fiber and it's not able to support their fastest speeds advertised, but it's faster than anything they could previously provide me. I get about 3 up and 10 down. Everything...and I mean everything...about their customer services sucks ass. Their web site for dealing with issues...sucks ass. Their CS reps on the phone...suck ass. Their CS reps on-line...suck ass. Fortunately, very little goes wrong once it's in. It IS possible you could be one of the fortunate folks who actually can get fiber to home. It all depends on your address. The other thing about AT&T U-verse is their channel package options...which...suck ass. They hold HBO hostage and if you want it, you have to buy -everything-. This isn't just a tactic by AT&T though. It's an industry-wide game, but really it sucks ass to have to play it. That said, I do like the picture and I'm fairly picky when it comes to that.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
normiss 898 #3 September 9, 2012 Wow. Paul this is EXACTLY our experience with it as well. It's a beautiful quality service. Kinda pricey. Worthless and slow customer service. Please hold while I transfer you to someone who can finish my reply. Beautiful picture quality, fast internets, rare latency issues that make a show look/sound like a Japanese monster movie. ryoder 1,590 #6 September 9, 2012 Quote Internets snob. Hey, I had only 1.5Mb until last week, and for IPv6 I've been using a tunnelbroker or 6to4 anycast for the last five years. Funny thing was I didn't even know they had rolled out IPv6 here. I was doing a packet capture to diagnose an issue in getting my own modem online so I could turn in the temporary rental unit. I caught my Mac making DHCPv6 requests, and to my astonishment, it was getting answers! It took a whole lot of googling to figure out how to get the Cisco router configured to do that as well as getting the prefix delegation and advertising it."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. skymama 37 #11 September 9, 2012 We have a lot of short power losses at our house. It took me a long time to figure out that I had to turn on the main unit in the Living Room in order to be able to get the recorded programs to show up in one of the units in other rooms. Just ask Normiss about my frustrated phone calls to him at work when I couldn't watch my recorded Dr. Oz while I was on my treadmill because the power had gone out earlier. wmw999 2,589 #18 September 10, 2012 I have it too for about the last 3 years; been OK, although one of the PC's consistently loses contact with the net (it's the one running Win7, and it hasn't been enough of a hassle for me to really work at fixing it). The power supply that we had died last month, and they replaced it. Also, once you start to figure out their service, you can, in fact, get competent people to talk to you (but you have to listen to an awful lot of crap on the phone if you don't remember what number to press for what sub-service ). And they don't suck as bad as Fairpoint Communications (the New England landline provider). No one does. Wendy P. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. kcjen24 0 #19 September 10, 2012 I've had U-Verse for a couple of years... getting ready to get rid of it. Have "middle of the road" internet package with basic cable. Internet connection has been mediocre at best. My basic that had some decent channels for basic, has turned into the major networks and cartoon channels...
