airtwardo 7 #7 September 20, 2012 If you have to, you can leave a cat in your house alone with a couple of catboxes, plenty of food, open toilet seats, and you can blow town for the weekend. Generally, you don't have to worry too much. A dog will crap all over the house and chew all your DVD's to shreds. Quote Got a 120lb Pyrenees, a dogie door and 2 acres fenced in...we leave for the weekend all the time. Not only is there no mess inside, I got a fur covered box of barking razor-blades to contend with any bad monsters that may care to visit while we're gone. A cat would just let 'em in and lick 'em! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
billeisele 130 #8 September 20, 2012 we're having a cat war in our town, there is a population of feral cats in certain areas, the people are tired of the noise and damage they cause, they want the cats moved/killed/whatever the do-goofers want money to try an experiment, catch and neuter the cats, then release them back where they were, the locals say that won't fix the problem the suggested compromise is that the do-gooders would have to find places for the cats to stay and be cared for, they don't want to do that, one of the retired locals says "fine then don't do anything, the cats are helping me teach responsibility to my grandkids, when they ask me why there is a dead cat in the road I tell them because the person that owned the cat let it run wild, it crossed the street and got run over, my grandchild then asks - Is that what happens to little kids that don't follow the rules? - dead cats save kids lives, and it also gives me something to do, I've trapped 23 so far, some were wild and some had collars, if your missing a cat check with animal control, if it has been more then a few days it is too late, don't leave your problem outside for someone else to manage and then complain about how it gets managed" an interesting social issue, waiting to see how it gets resolvedGive one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
LuckyMcSwervy 0 #9 September 20, 2012 Quote Pictures of cats are cuter. If you have to, you can leave a cat in your house alone with a couple of catboxes, plenty of food, open toilet seats, and you can blow town for the weekend. Generally, you don't have to worry too much. A dog will crap all over the house and chew all your DVD's to shreds. Attached Picture: 'Hobo' - a fixed male - got his name because he belonged to a family in my neighborhood who moved and left him behind. Then ANOTHER family adopted him...and THEY moved and left him behind as well. He made a habit of going up to people's back doors and just waiting there politely until he got some food. This went on for a few months. Finally, I let him come in. A more polite cat you never met. Turns out he doesn't spray, uses his scratching post, and is one of the best pets I've ever had. The people who dumped him were idiots. Awww!! Glad he "found" you!! Always be kinder than you feel.
