jtval 0 #1 October 26, 2012 So, My time on the AF parachute team is winding down. I was notified of a new assignment. Sumter SC. Anybody know which DZ/windtunnel is close? Anyone know if they need an AFFI (working on my AFFI/E), Pro rated jumper, wingsuit instructor, windtunnel instructor level 2? What else is there to do in SoCar? I have: Family in myrtle beach and forsyth Ga. Good Friend in Norfolk VA. but I've never stopped in SC. Any good news?My photos My Videos
skydiver30960 0 #2 October 26, 2012 Spent a year or so in Sumter, which is where Shaw is, IIRC. This was when Blue Sky Adventures was open, and it was heaven. Unfortunately BSA's gone now. For small DZ vibe, try Skydive Walterboro. I've never been but this is where a lot of the BSA locals ended up. For big DZ vibe, it's Skydive Carolina. AWESOME DZ with tons of great folks. Not the birthplace of, but unofficially the U.S. home of the Rodriguez Brotherhood. About a 2 hour drive from Sumter, it's worth driving three times that far. I'm jealous: I love South Carolina. Sumter is a nice central location: close to Charleston (my fav city in the state), Columbia, and I-95 for travel north and south. Sumter isn't exactly a bustling metropolis, but it has what you need to survive. Elvisio "much more humid than AZ, though" Rodriguez
Southern_Man 0 #3 October 26, 2012 Pretty sure Raeford is the closest tunnel. Skydive Carolina is probably the closest larger DZ although there may be a closer DZ that is smaller."What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

PhreeZone 20 #5 October 27, 2012 DZ in Myrtle looks to be mainly a tandem DZ, they require a D license for anyone to jump there but it seems that they did just get a Porter in addition to their 182 after having a Blackhawk Caravan most the summer.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Google maps shows that as about 2 hours from Sumter."What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
