oldwomanc6 60 #1 November 24, 2012 So far, the weather in the DC area this weekend, has been gorgeous! When I got up this morning, it was foggy. Since we don't get this very often, it was very enjoyable to watch this go from dense patchy, ghosty-ness to whispy, barely-there, POOF! sunshine! The trees were lit up with gold-orange-red incandescence! That was when I noticed the frost on the grass! It got up to 62 degrees. I thought to myself: "Can it get any better?" I drove all over Maryland (avoiding all shopping establishments), and headed home just as it was getting dark. Needless to say, the sunset was DISNEY! Someone flipped a switch, because the minute the sun set, all the leaves decided to fall off the trees! It was like driving in a snow storm at night, but it was leaves. Everywhere! I've never encountered that before. So cool! I've had many enjoyable days, but on a "What can nature throw at you?" basis, this was so good, I had to share. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB
skymama 37 #2 November 24, 2012 Did you take a photo? I'm always envious of people who get to see the changing leaves, I'm glad you stopped to appreciate it. oldwomanc6 60 #3 November 24, 2012 I didn't think to take any. Funny thing is that this morning virtually all the leaves are gone, just a few left with brown leaves that probably won't fall off till the trees bud in the spring. The fish pond is full of them, though! Having grown up in So. Cal., I certainly appreciate the different seasons we get here. I think fall is my favorite one. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB
JohnMitchell 16 #4 November 24, 2012 We had a beautiful but cloudy Thanksgiving. I got in a nice hike along the river while the turkey was cooking, great views of Mt. Rainier with new snow. Today is low fog here and the DZ with a promise to burn off and let me jump later. Pretty happy about that.

wolfriverjoe 1,523 #7 November 25, 2012 Quote ... I think fall is my favorite one. Fall is nice but I prefer spring. Everything turning green after a dismal white/grey winter. Going outside without a coat for the first time in months. Buds, blossoms, birds and bunnies. A good spring makes winter worth tolerating. And we had our first real snow last night. Maybe 1/2 inch. Enough to cover the grass and a thin coat on the driveways and sidewalks. I was lazing in bed before getting up and I realized that the light was "wrong." Too bright and too "white." So I knew that the weatherman was right when he predicted snow, even before I looked out the window."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." JohnMitchell 16 #8 November 25, 2012 Quote Quote ... I think fall is my favorite one. Fall is nice but I prefer spring. Fall is my nostalgic time. When I was young it was back to school, new adventures, new challenges, catching up with old friends. Even now it's a time to reflect on Summer's fun and anticipate the holidays that approach. But it's hard to compete with Spring's riot of color, light and warmth after a long, cold winter. In our neck of the woods several daffodil farms put on a hell of a display each spring. And a short drive North of Seattle will take you to field after field of tulip farms.
