AnotherGoodin 0 #1 December 14, 2004 Just got one.. No jumps w/it yet....What do you think of it or what have you heard? If life gives you lemons then make lemonade, if not then go thirsty and keep on truckin'
Spizzzarko 0 #2 December 14, 2004 Pretty expensive. The face shield is flimsy, and doesn't hold up to abuse very long, and is kind of difficult to replace. I use a factory diver, as I never used the flip up on the Oxygen when I jumped one. Other than that they are good helmets.
colossus 0 #3 December 14, 2004 I love mine. Very quite and it allows me to concentrate on the jump itself... not the wind. I leave the lense up in the plane, and on jump run, close it and ready to go. It does not open until I need it to. As for the shield... yah it is a bit thin but it will do what it is designed to: keep the wind, and "other objects" out of my face. The anti-fog bubs me a bit (I have a small son and he likes touching it). I have found that the shield is not that tough to replace. you just hae to make sure you follow the directions and not over tighten. Jason

larsrulz 0 #5 December 14, 2004 Careful there....I was keeping my bonehead boomerang loose and I lost it transitioning from a sit to a back track this past weekend. Fortunately it is composite, so it fell at about 15 mph tops, so the only damage was it had a nice clump of mud on it. The oxygn comes down further on the back of the head, so it is less likely to catch wind, but still something to be cautious with. I got a strong urge to fly, but I got no where to fly to. -PF

kallend 2,146 #8 December 14, 2004 QuoteIs yours really snug? Mine isn't, is it supposed to be? Are you sure you have it properly seated? It takes quite an effort the first few times. I don't know where the "flimsy" comment came from. I've never broken a face shield (I get through about 2 a year, I replace them when they get scratched). Replacement takes about 5 minutes.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
airgord 1 #9 December 14, 2004 If you do any really hard 4 way you will get the occasional knee or flying elbow and the A3 shield caves in really well. Also, repeated opening and closing of the shield wears out the ratchet allowing the wind to get into it and then they blow off right into the camera guys (my) face. We tape them shut as it is considered poor form to throw a shield into our teammates (my) face. You don't want to lose one in the tunnel either. AnotherGoodin 0 #11 December 14, 2004 Thanks for all the adivise... The only reason it might come up too high is because I have to wear my hair up which makes the helmet ride up higher on my neck and creates a lot of space under my lower ears and the helmet.... If i wear my hair down just at home and put it on then it fits pretty good but then it can move from side to side a little bit but not too much. Of course i cant wear it down in the air though...lolIf life gives you lemons then make lemonade, if not then go thirsty and keep on truckin'
174fps 1 #12 December 15, 2004 i've seen women with longer hair use a hairnet or similar covering to control thier hair under their helmet. might help with the fit also
