nate_1979 9 #1 December 13, 2004 Yes, i did a search, and no, I didnt really find what I was looking for.. I am flying a PA Fusion 210, and I have been experiencing some off heading openings, pretty much EVERY jump.. The canopy has HMA lines and about 40 jumps on it since new.. The last jump I did, I really concentrated on stability and "continuing to flying into my opening", not that unstable openings have ever been a problem for me.. Once pulled, everything was VERY stable for the snivel (which took a bit longer than normal this time), no twisting, no turning, just a nice snivel.. As soon as the slider comes down and the canopy opens up it goes into a diving right turn, one time enough of a turn to give me a couple line twists then after a few seconds in levels out.. It has done this even when I've had it packed by four different people.,... Just wondering if anybody has any ideas? Does anyone else with a fusion experiance this? FGF #??? I miss the sky... AggieDave 6 #2 December 13, 2004 Most likely its body position. Let one of the VERY experienced people on the DZ jump it and see what happens. If it still happens, then your packing may be suspect. Talk to your local rigger about watching you pack and to have him/her give you suggestions. Hell, have your rigger pack it for you and see if it helps (after having someone else jump it). Last, the last thing that should be suspect is the canopy its self. The large majority of problems are body positions followed by packjobs.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." diablopilot 2 #3 December 13, 2004 When you get to checking out the canopy on your next jump, see if it's got a turn, first with the brakes stowed, and then unstowed. If it does, see how many seconds it takes to get throu 90 degrees of turn. If there is no turn, you probably should look else where than the canopy.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. livnbored 0 #4 December 13, 2004 I would have to agree that it's most likely body position. If the canopy is turning after the snivel, it shouldn't have anything to do with the pack job as it is already open and snivelling on heading. I Agree to check if there is a turn whilst flying, and to get a more experienced jumper to try it out. Often, people move in their harness as soon as the slider comes down when they begin to feel the parachute fly, which in turn can cause it turn. Try not to watch the opening, and keep your head down, feeling the opening. I find this works well for me, but ask some more experienced jumpers how they best fly their openings. Everyone has different methods.
nate_1979 9 #5 December 14, 2004 Thanks for the responses.., I will probably see if I can get some others to try it... As far as the turn thing, I did notice a slight left turn on it while flying brakes unstowed last time I jumped it and was actually really trying to pay attention to how it flyed without inputs, very slight, but that could have been the wind mabey? I'll try it again next time, mabey pull a little higher so I can have time to just see how it flys in brakes, and in different directions.. Once it's open, I love the canopy, and the turns on opening dont bother me too much right now, just know that it's not right whether it's my body position I need to fix or something else.. Will also probably check the lines closely before my next packing.. FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't. firstime 0 #7 December 14, 2004 I had the same problem with my sabre 2 190. I didnt think it was body position until I got a video. And low and behold, body straight & feet together. It did the trick
