Skyrad 0 #26 December 24, 2012 Or not born of course. Somewhere in this thread it mentioned that 25 people were at the reunion who owe their lives to Franz not firing his guns, now unless they had a shed load of sightseers along for the ride then many of those 25 would be descendants. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Bottom line, its the man in the moments call and no one else's. Considering that the USAF didn't have any shortages of pilots and B-17, probably near zero. (and that B-17 would most likely be scrapped for extra metal) Cheers! Shc
ShcShc11 0 #28 December 25, 2012 Quote It's easy to forget that the USSR was fighting a very cold and bloody war a long time before Normandy. Speaking of the German-soviet war, we are currently on the period of the 70th anniversary of the battle of Stalingrad. Aug 1942-Feb 1943. 70 years ago, Manstein's rescue mission failed a week ago and supplies were unable to connect with the forward movements of the German 6th army. The 6th army was subsequently sacrificed in order to save the army group in the Caucusus oil field. The Russian turned what could have been their biggest defeat into a historic victory. Cheers !
