kallend 2,147 #6 December 24, 2012 Quote What famous rock star has a bug named for him, holding a PhD and a second Masters? That's one well educated bug.How about Brian May again (Mayfly)Actually there are bunch of rockers with bugs mamed after them, including Elvis, Frank Zappa, Freddie Mercury, Roy Orbison, and a bunch of FOSSILS named after members of the Rolling Stones! Not sure if any of these have PhDs though.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

DSE 5 #8 December 25, 2012 Greg Gafrin (Bad Religion) has a PhD in Zoology, and a "bird-bug" named after him (I don't recall why/what it looks like). Frank Zappa didn't complete his PhD, although there is a PhD program designed around his music. He too, has a life-form named for him (a kind of Jellyfish/Phialella zappai) Most would recognize Tom Scholz of "Boston," who holds a Masters in Engineering, and recently completed his PhD after retiring from music manufacturing industry (selling off Scholz Research & Development, Inc.) kallend 2,147 #9 December 26, 2012 I find it funny/appropriate that so many fossils are named for various of the Rolling Stones.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
